🍳 How the KDS Works
Color-Coded Ticket Stages:
- 🔵 Blue (New Order): Just arrived from QR menu or POS cashier. Audio chime plays to alert kitchen staff.
- 🟡 Yellow (In Preparation): Chef has acknowledged the ticket and is actively cooking. Timer is actively tracking prep duration.
- 🔴 Red (Delayed / Exceeded Target Time): Flashes if prep time exceeds your target threshold (e.g., 15 minutes), flagging urgent attention for the head chef.
- 🟢 Green (Ready for Pickup): Order is plated; automatically notifies the assigned waiter or captain on their mobile device.
🔪 Station-Specific Filtering
In multi-station kitchens, you can configure dedicated KDS screens:
- Grill Station: Only receives steaks, burgers, and barbecue items.
- Pizza / Oven Station: Only receives wood-fired pizzas, calzones, and breads.
- Bar / Beverage Station: Only receives cocktails, coffees, shakes, and mocktails.
- Expediter (Expo) Master Screen: Shows the complete ticket across all stations so the head expediter can consolidate items before service.
